DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

 

Reporting directly to the President, the Dean of Institutional Effectiveness provides the leadership and has management responsibility for the College’s all institutional research efforts and functions.  The Dean oversees the Office of Institutional Effectiveness which provides administrative leadership for assessment of institutional effectiveness and student learning outcomes including faculty and staff development in assessment practice.  The Dean directs and oversees the College’s overall institutional planning and research activities to increase the effectiveness of enrollment, retention, persistence and completion for student success.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university;
  • Completion of one year of full-time formal training, internship or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrative assignment;
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college faculty, staff and students.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide leadership in assessing, identifying, formulating, directing and implementing the College mission; provide leadership for the continued evaluation of instruction, student services and administrative services support programs;
  2. Lead the systematic integration of planning and program review in institutional effectiveness, staff development, accreditation, grants evaluation, and budgeting, ensuring alignment with the College strategic plan, the educational master plan, and accreditation process;
  3. Plan, implement, and evaluate short and long range strategies, goals and objectives for College strategic planning  and direct the design and implementation of an annual evaluation of the College's institutional plans and its planning processes;
  4. Lead the development, implementation, and data analysis of surveys and other information needed to support academic, departmental and college efforts in assessment;
  5. Plan and direct the development , coordination, and maintenance of an annual Office of Institutional Effectiveness calendar for on-going and ad-hoc institutional research and assessment;
  6. Evaluate learning and service area outcomes and develop measurement instruments to analyze outcomes for departments and units developing effectiveness and performance analysis;
  7. Direct the preparation of and provide support for a variety of mandated and requested College, District, State, and federal reports including accreditation reports, educational master plan etc.;
  8. Serve as evening and weekend administrator on a rotational basis as required;
  9. Provides leadership in enrollment management reporting and development of FTES projections;
  10. Develops reporting systems needed to meet the required reporting needs.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Three years of increasingly responsible experience reasonably related to the assignment;
  2. An understanding of the teaching/learning process, student services, institutional effectiveness measurements;
  3. Team-oriented problem solving skills;
  4. Ability to delegate authority;
  5. Understanding of and familiarity with California education code and community college policies;
  6. A collaborative, visionary leader, who encourages improvement;
  7. Ability to work in a positive manner with faculty, administration, classified personnel and students;
  8. Demonstrated commitment to student success;
  9. Ability to communicate articulately both in public and in private, as evidenced by the ability to listen as well as to speak and write effectively;
  10. Experience in development and implementation of strategic planning processes and systems;
  11. Experience in promoting use and access of information for decision making and assessment;
  12. Excellent analytical and organizational skills;
  13. Demonstrated experience in interpreting, articulating and communicating regulations, policies and procedures;
  14. Ability to produce significant quantity of reports and documents in timely manner;

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

The selected candidate will be allocated into the salary schedule after hiring based upon their previous salary. The yearly salary range is $124,905 – $146,660.  The PhD differential is $338.94 per month.  An exceptional benefits package which includes medical, vision, dental and life insurance is available for the employee and eligible dependents.

 Note: All degrees must be granted by an accredited college or university in the United States.  Transcripts from a foreign institution must be submitted with an approved evaluation of equivalency from a foreign evaluation service approved by California Commission on Teaching Credentialing.
